A Question Of Sport team captain Matt Dawson has broken his silence after being axed from the programme alongside Sue Barker and Phil Tufnell.
The trio is leaving the show as part of a major shake-up, with the BBC confirming the host and team captain’s upcoming series would be their last.
Taking to Twitter to address the news, Matt penned: ‘Thanks for all the lovely messages. I’m not sure how to respond so I’ll have a think.
Matt, Sue and Phil’s departure was announced on Saturday night with a spokesperson saying: ‘We would like to thank Sue for her enormous contribution as the show’s longest-reigning host over the last 23 years.

They continued: ‘Together they have ensured A Question Of Sport remains a firm favourite with the BBC One audience.’

The quiz show first started in 1970 and was originally presented by David Vine along with team captains Henry Cooper and Cliff Morgan.
