Burnes resumed his extraordinary start to the season on Tuesday night, scoring 10 goals in six goalless innings in Milwaukee’s 6-0 win over the Padres. Burnes has 40 strikeouts and zero walks in 24 1/3 innings over four starts, an unprecedented stretch in modern baseball history (since 1893). He was previously the first pitcher in modern times with at least 30 strikeouts and no walks in his first three appearances.
Burnes currently leads the league starters with an astonishing ERA of 0.37 and his 40 strikeouts lead the National League at. The 26-year-old right-hander broke Adam Wainwright’s previous MLB record of 35 spikes with a no-walk starter set in 2013 according to the Elias Sports Bureau. Kenley Jansen has the record for reliefs with 51 spikes before his first walk in 2017.
« You know, I’ve heard it from everyone in the clubhouse so it’s pretty hard to get away from him right now: ‘Hey, you set a record tonight, ‘ »Burnes told reporters, although he said he would prefer to move further from the hoopla.
Not only did Burnes keep his historic series on the hill alive but hit one too Mistake in the top third during the Brewers’ five rally.
« I think it rubs off on everyone – to the bullpen, » said Brewers right-handed Adrian Houser. « I think we all get into the mentality of just going out there and competing our bums all the time. Just leave it all out there and put it all on the line for the guys. They’ll be out there and support us and do what they do I think it’s going well and everyone is feeding on it. «
Burnes has apparently reached the peak of his four-year MLB career. After a disappointing 2019 season in which he finished with a NL high of 8.82 ERA and was downgraded to a minor, Burnes wanted to reshape himself.

« When you go through some drastic changes, whatever they may be, » Burnes said. « The most important thing is to stick to the process and know that the other side will eventually come out better.
» It’s difficult when you’re going through things to try to lose sight of the results . But it’s definitely good when you get to a point where you get good feedback. «
