Alabama’s football program has dominated the Southeastern Conference for years – in large part due to Nick Saban’s legendary coach.

But Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher seems to have had enough of it. While speaking with the Houston Touchdown Club on Wednesday, Fisher was asked if Saban is going to retire and eventually beat Alabama.

« We’ll hit his ass when he gets there. Don’t worry, » Fisher replied with a quick and good-natured push.

Immediately after this comment, Fisher quickly added how much respect he has for Saban as a coach and friend. But while the Crimson Tide continues to gain all the glory as king of the SEC, the fourth year Aggies head coach believes his program has what it takes to be just as good.

« I respect everything they do and like they do, but we can do it as well or be as good or better and we will, « Fisher said. « That’s our goal and what I want. So we’ll make it. »

Alabama is currently in a seven-game winning streak against Texas A&M. Since Fisher took the helm in 2018, the Aggies have been 3-0 down against Saban-trained Alabama teams.

Bama was the only team to beat Fisher’s squad last season when they finished the year with a 9: 1 record and a Gator Bowl win. Saban’s dominant team, which won the championship, gave the only loss to A&M and set off to an easy 52:24 win.
