CM – UEFA moves the Champions League final to Porto

According to Turkish media reports on T, UEFA has moved this month's Champions League final between Manchester City and Chelsea from Istanbul to Porto

According to Turkish media reports on Tuesday, UEFA has moved this month’s Champions League final between Manchester City and Chelsea from Istanbul to Porto.

The European Football Association declined to comment on reports from the media, which included HaberTurk TV, while Turkish Football Association officials were not immediately available for comment.

The UK government did Turkey put on their « red list » for travel on Friday, effectively excluding the possibility for supporters of the English clubs to participate in the game.

There have been talks between UEFA and the UK government over the past few days to move the game on May 29th to Wembley Stadium in London for easier access for English club fans. </ p However, a source well aware of the discussions stated that there are barriers to the need for quarantine exemptions for international broadcasters, technical and support staff, and sponsors.

Last week the UK government put Portugal on the “green list” from May 17th, which means that fans of the English clubs can travel freely to the game if they switch.

Portugal is currently in the final phase of easing and is expected to lift travel restrictions on May 17th.
