Today’s Penn State football news headlines feature college football reportedly on the brink and the Lions players’ case to play out the 2020 season.

Power 5 conferences are moving toward canceling fall sports, according to a report from Sports Illustrated’s Pat Forde and Ross Dellenger. Conversations among conference commissioners have “gotten to a critical stage,” one commissioner told SI, and the postponement of fall sports could be coming. According to the same report, the Big Ten is moving toward a decision to cancel and engaging other Power 5 conferences.

Meanwhile, Penn State players joined in on a social media movement to make their voices count in these crucial days before decisions are made. Quarterback Sean Clifford and tight end Pat Freiermuth made their voices heard as part of an “I want to play movement.” The idea, Freiermuth said, was to “come out with a positive statement,” writes Mark Wogenrich for AllPennState.
