The second-seeded Colorado Avalanche will attempt to even its best-of-7 Western Conference semifinal series with No. 3 Dallas Monday from Rogers Place in Edmonton.
Dallas, fresh off its come-from-behind series victory vs. the Calgary Flames in round one, pinned the talented Avalanche in a 1-0 hole Saturday, winning the series opener 5-3.
It didn’t help that Colorado goalie Philipp Grubauer exited Game 1 with a leg injury. Back-up Pavel Francouz did redirect 18 of 20 shots he faced through nearly two full periods of work. Francouz will be in net Monday. Colorado defenseman Erik Johnson also is out.
Dallas will continue to lean on top line amie Benn, Tyler Seguin and Alexander Radulov. The trio combined for eight points in Game 1 via three goals and five assists.
