The FSU football team started the game against Georgia Tech with promise. The special teams covered the kickoff swarming like FSU teams of yesteryear.

The defense came up with a timely interception, and the offense went right down the field and scored a touchdown to take an early 7-0 lead.

However, it seemed to go downhill after that, aside from special teams blocking two field goals and an extra point.

James Blackman was inconsistent, wide receivers had multiple drops, and the FSU defense let a freshman have his way with them for the most part.

The Noles led 10-0 at halftime and could have been up 20-0 had they not dropped a sure touchdown pass and missed a field goal.

It was disappointing, the team seemed to lack any resolve and resorted back to allowing teams to dominant them in the second half.

People killed me when I said this was a 5-6 win roster based on zero upgrade at QB & OL, minimal upgrade at LB, and no pressure DEs. The coaches are vastly upgraded, the roster is not yet.

I wrote how this was the most important game on the schedule and you’ll see why I wrote that in the coming weeks. This type of loss gives the players the same feeling of the last couple of years.

It makes all the so-called buy-in they had questionable, and it’ll be more difficult to sell recruits on the future with looking at how they looked in the game.

There were multiple injuries in the game on the offensive line. Joshua Kaindoh was injured early in the game and didn’t return.

There were some bright spots in the first half of the game, but the second half was so similar to the last couple of years it’s scary.

Will Mike Norvell be able to make the necessary adjustments in the bye week with Miami on deck? He better make them quick, or fans might be rooting for a COVID-19 bailout of some sort.

It’s ridiculous for the defense to allow a freshman to have that type of success against them. FSU defensive coordinator Adam Fuller has some explaining to do too.
