Home and Away’s Nikau Parata is left heartbroken next week as his girlfriend Bella Nixon goes AWOL during their time on the run together.
Nikau (Kawakawa Fox-Reo) is about to team up with Bella and flee from Summer Bay, as Bella doesn’t want to face police questioning over the murder of her father Ross.
With a major police investigation now under way, Bella (Courtney Miller) fears saying something that could incriminate her brother Colby Thorne, who killed Ross at the start of 2019.
Next week, Bella and Nikau enjoy their time alone as they hide out in a remote location.
While camping out, the young couple sleep together for the first time and couldn’t be happier over the strength of their relationship.
Unfortunately, things turn sour when their new car – bought with Tane’s money – fails to start.
Bella is reluctant to involve anyone else in their adventures, but Nikau points out that they need help and sets off alone in search of a location that has mobile phone reception.
While walking, Nikau is horrified to cross paths with Tane (Ethan Browne), Ari (Rob Kipa-Williams) and Mackenzie (Emily Weir), who have been out searching for him and Bella for a few days.
Nikau tries to escape from his uncles, but Tane and Ari give chase and manage to get the upper hand.
Tane, Ari and Mackenzie stress the severity of the situation back in the Bay, where Bella is facing a strict 72-hour deadline to undergo her interview with Angelo Rosetta.
If Bella fails to comply, a warrant will be issued for her arrest and her entire future is at stake.
Nikau reluctantly heads back to his and Bella’s makeshift campsite with Tane, Ari and Mackenzie. However, when they arrive, Bella has already left – believing that Nikau is better off without her.
Bella’s disappearing act leaves Ari, Tane and Mackenzie panicked, as there’s now a very real chance that she’ll be in deep trouble with the authorities.
As more hours pass, Nikau makes contact with Bella over the phone, making out that he thinks she has abandoned him because she didn’t enjoy their night together.
Although Nikau doesn’t really think this, the emotional blackmail works on Bella, who comes to meet him to talk things through.
When Bella sees Ari, Tane and Mac at the meeting place, she’s horrified to realise that she has walked straight into a trap. Once she knows about the trouble back in the Bay, though, she reluctantly agrees to come home.
Later, Bella arrives at the station to face Angelo, with only seconds to spare – but she’s still highly nervous about the interview.
Bella may also be underestimating just how badly Nikau feels about her attempt to go on without him.
Nikau feels that he gave up everything for Bella and she attempted to leave him when the going got tough. What does this mean for their relationship?
Home and Away airs these scenes on Monday, September 21, Tuesday, September 22 and Friday, September 25 at 1.15pm and 6pm on Channel 5.
