How to spoil your pooch for National Dog Day

Dogs are amazing, that is pretty much a universal truth. Why else do we call them man's best friend? Every dog owner has photos at-the-ready to show off their pet.

Dogs are amazing. That’s a universal truth. Every dog owner has photos at the ready to show off their canine. They will talk your ear off about anything that their dog does because they love their dog so much. Guilty as charged, I am describing myself. I am that Dog Mom.

In honor of National Dog Day (August 26), I am here to tell you all of the ways you can spoil your favorite four-legged friend. Or three-legged—no discrimination against dogs with three legs or fewer.

I promise a dog did not write this article. However, I do think my dog would approve of toys being the first item on this list. The look in a dog’s eye when they see a brand new toy is almost unparalleled.

For less active dogs, treats are more important than toys any day. They will absolutely lose their minds when they hear the ruffle of a treat bag. Make their mouths water with delicious snacks.

Get your dog to stop sleeping on the floor and instead nap in their own bed—maybe with a soft blanket for extra comfort.

Cute collars and leashes are definitely more for the dog owner than for the pet. But having a cool collar or leash will get people to stop on the street to compliment your dog’s gear, and thus, will result in your dog getting extra pets and affection. I can confirm this, as my dog has a pizza leash that gets him lots of attention.
