John Calipari on Tyler Herro: « He’s got elephant balls » | Kentucky Sports Radio

University of Kentucky Basketball, Football, and Recruiting news brought to you in the most ridiculous manner possible.

John Calipari is a fan of his metaphors, but he went dig deep into his proverbial bag of phrases when talking about one of his former players.

“I swear to God he never left the gym,” Calipari said about Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro, according to ESPN‘s Jordan Schultz. “And he had a chip. I always tell him he’s got elephant balls.”

Tyler Herro – @raf_tyler – instant NBA success is no accident: @UKCoachCalipari couldn’t get this man to leave the gym! ??????#Heat #HEATNation #BBN

Now I’m not quite sure where to go from here after reading that, but if true, Herro might need to leave the Bubble immediately or at least see a veterinarian. Aside from that, Cal’s comments on the Heat rookie shouldn’t surprise anyone (the “never leaving the gym” part, that is). He was drafted into a Miami culture that is dedicated to getting the most out of its players through hard discipline and constant work. Herro was built for that mindset; he showed us in Lexington and continues to put it on display in Miami.

Herro has been one of the Heat’s main contributors throughout the NBA Playoffs, too, closing games down the stretch and playing with his usual confidence. Through nine postseason outings in the Orlando Bubble thus far, the former Wildcat is averaging 14.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 3.3 assists while shooting right at 40 percent from beyond the arc. The Heat recently ran through the top-seeded Milwaukee Bucks with a 4-1 series win as they now advance to the Eastern Conference Finals.
