The 22-year-old Dutch forward was denied a summer transfer after suffering a serious knee injury in March which required two episodes of surgery
Grot had been excluded from the Leeds squad by Marcelo Bielsa before his injury and had spent the last two seasons on loan
He suffered from a bacterial infection after having his first knee surgery and had to have another operation in the spring
Grot is currently in rehab, but is not expected to regain his full form for several months
He will remain with United player until at least January and his contract then expires at the end of the season
Regardless of his recovery, the strapping forward has no future at Leeds, whom he joined in 2017 from NEC Nijmegen
His first season was a disappointment and he hasn’t played for the Yorkshire Giants since April 2018
A source from Leeds told Football Insider that Grot should no longer play for his parent club
There was interest from the French, Spanish and Dutch teams earlier this summer but he will have to wait until the January window to secure a permanent or temporary transfer
Grot made nine league starts among 25 appearances in all competitions for Vitesse Arnhem last season, scoring two goals and providing one assist
An attacker leading the attack or operating on either flank, the 1.80m (1.80m) colossus was more effective in 2018-19 at VVV-Venlo, scoring six goals and three assists in 34 games
