Due to the coronavirus putting a temporary halt to sports, the NBA is still wrapping up postseason play for the 2019-20 NBA season. While the 2020-21 season will likely be postponed as a result, NBA 2K is pushing ahead with the release of NBA 2K21. And today, basketball fans will get their first look at what the next installment in the annual basketball sim series will offer.

Today at 7:00 a.m. PT / 10:00 a.m. ET the demo for the current-gen version of NBA 2K21 will drop for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. Simply head to your platform’s respective storefront and search “NBA 2K21 Demo” to find it.

According to the listing, the demo will feature two game matchups, the Milwaukee Bucks vs the Los Angeles Clippers and the All-Time Los Angeles Lakers vs the All-Time Boston Celtics. Additionally, it will offer a look at the MyPLAYER Builder. As previously detailed by 2K, Damian Lillard, one of the game’s cover athletes, championed for the option to be able to create an oversized Point Guard in MyCareer, so we’ll likely be able to see that.

Other than that, just expect to experience all of the new features and improvements made to NBA 2K21, many of which were detailed in a previous blog post from 2K. Among the improvements include “fun-ifying the on-court experience” to strike a better balance between simulating real life and making an enjoyable game.

There’s also the revamped Pro Stick which impacts dribbling and shooting. From better ball control to more intuitive moves to a new targeting shooting system, there’s a lot that’s new with the Pro Stick with the hope of making NBA 2K21 feel more authentic.

It’s important to note that this is is the current-gen version of NBA 2K21. 2K promises “new tech and amazing advances” for the next-gen versions of the game on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait to see what that entails.

For now, enjoy the current-gen demo of NBA 2K21 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. The game is set for release on September 4, 2020.
