New Orleans ready to assist neighbors after Hurricane Laura

New Orleans Homeland Security Director Collin Arnold held a news conference Wednesday where he said the city is ready to respond to their neighbors in the west after Hurricane Laura’s landfall.

Arnold encouraged residents to stay vigilant, as rain bands from Laura could still impact the area through Friday.

According to Arnold, helping out parishes to the west after the storm is over is a high priority.

The city currently has taken in more than 600 evacuees from Lake Charles as Hurricane Laura, a dangerous category 4 storm, moves closer to the Louisiana-Texas border.
