Upper St. Clair couple dead in apparent murder-suicide, police say


    A woman and her husband were found dead inside the estranged couple’s home in Upper St. Clair in an apparent case of a murder-suicide on Monday, police said.

    The 54-year-old woman was shot and killed when she returned to the house on Thousand Oaks Drive to collect some personal belongings, according to Allegheny County homicide detectives.

    The 67-year-old man called Upper St. Clair police at about 10:10 a.m., saying that he had just killed his wife and that he intended to kill himself, county police said.

    « Responding officers and SWAT team members did not hear any gunfire after arriving at the scene, » county police said. « It is believed that the male took his own life immediately after placing the phone call to police. »
