Diamonds captain to join Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic in ANZ Premiership for 2021 after struggling to adjust to new Super Netball rule

Diamond captain Caitlin Bassett has been officially kicked out of Australia following the Super Shot after confirming her transfer to the New Zealand National League for 2021

Bassett announced Thursday that she will join the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic on a one-year contract for 2021 after relinquishing her contract with the Giants in Super Netball

« While we are disappointed that Caitlin has decided to leave our national competition, we recognize and appreciate her contribution to the league over many years and respect her decision to move to New Zealand competition, » said Marinkovich. / p>

“Caitlin is a valued member of the Origin Diamonds team and we look forward to working with her and the rest of the group as we prepare to return to international competition in 2021″

Bassett has had little time on the pitch in the Australian National League this season following the Super Shot.She is considered one of the best shooters in the world, but her main talent is her accuracy under the post rather than from the outside of the goal circle

Bassett will join the ANZ Premiership next season with the option of a second year at the Magic She will travel to New Zealand early next year

The 32-year-old was recently named to the 2020-21 Diamonds squad in preparation for the Constellation Cup, which has been delayed until early 2021 It remains to be seen whether it will retain the harbor master’s office

« I have had great conversations with key people within the Diamonds programs and we all agree that time in court is essential for my development, » Bassett said
