GUNS N ‘ROSES hellraiser Axl Rose was revealed to be the savior of AC / DC, who reunited and recorded a new album

Four years ago, the singer volunteered his services after Australia’s stadium superstars lost singer Brian Johnson to hearing problems in the middle of their 2016 tour – with many fans fearing the worst for the group

But despite Axl’s crazy reputation, he proved a positive influence, prompting their reunion after a four-year hiatus – and an unexpected new album, Power Up

It’s a record that many feared would never materialize, but as guitarist and co-founder Angus Young explains, “We had our fair share of tragedies In 1980 we lost our lead singer Bon Scott. and that was a very dark patch for us.But it was my brother (Malcolm) who contacted me at the time and told me that instead of moping, we should just keep doing what we were doing before

« In 2016 it still seemed very difficult. We were at another unknown moment because with Brian’s hearing problems, we didn’t know what was going to happen

« There was a real risk that he would go deaf if we continued, and neither of us wanted him

« So we had to cancel the rest of the tour with no idea what was going to happen next, but we were lucky that Axl Rose stepped in to help us. It wasn’t planned like that – he made contact and we will be forever grateful and grateful that he did «

But Axl had a reputation for partying and unruly behavior, and teetotal Angus adds: « I had heard a lot of things too But I spoke to him one-on-one and he was very respectful to me and the others

« He was listening We said, ‘OK, we have to do rehearsals to make this happen’, and he fully committed and handled it very professionally.

« I don’t know if I can say that we tamed him, but I can only say that when we were on the road he was there with us

« He was very respectful If we were there to put on the show, he was there, and he was there at the same time as us, ready to go »

As the founder of the group, Malcolm Young holds a special place in the hearts of rock fans

But according to his brother Angus, rhythm guitarist Malcolm, the man behind many of their most famous riffs, still influences AC / DC – three years after his death

The band say that Malcolm still affects every decision they make and that he’s a major presence on their new album, Power Up

The opening chords of the first single Shot In The Dark are instantly recognizable as one of Malc’s iconic riffs – and the album is full of his never-before-seen ideas

Angus explains, « A lot of these ideas were ideas Malcolm and I had worked on, and I knew there had been a lot of effort put into them. These were songs we always wanted to release

« I thought to myself, ‘Now is the time to go through them’ I picked the ones that I knew he liked a lot and so, for Malcolm – and me too – I was determined to bring these songs out.

« These songs represent the band he knew, and that’s why everyone was eager to be a part of the band »

His teammate Brian almost missed this chance after a hearing problem, but he is now on the mend

Angus adds: « Brian had serious hearing problems, but he kept us informed while he worked with a specialist

« He implemented technology – it really changed the game He is so happy with the results

« We did a rehearsal and Brian wanted the full scene with our amps and gear – and he couldn’t believe the results »

He adds: « I can feel him there, even when we were in the studio – I’m still looking for him. He had such a character too and you always felt his presence

« I always thought of Malcolm as the type who said, ‘No Angus, do better’ I trusted his judgment Now I have to put on his hat and think, ‘How Evil would he?’ «

Angus explained, “Brian had serious hearing problems, but he kept us informed while he worked with a specialist He had a technology implanted – it really was a game-changer He is so happy with the results

« We did a rehearsal and Brian wanted the full scene with our amps and gear – and he couldn’t believe the results »

But despite the excitement of reviving the band, Angus admits he still misses Malcolm. He adds: « I can feel him there, even when we were in the studio – I’m still looking for him

« I always thought of Malcolm as the type who said, ‘No Angus, do better’ I trusted Malcolm’s judgment

POWER Up is their 17th studio album and comes six years after their last release, Rock Or Bust, which ranked No.1 in 12 countries. The record will be released on November 13, pitting them against McFly’s new releases, Paloma. Faith and Sophie Ellis-Bextor

As one of the industry’s most rock guitarists, Angus has seen a legion of stars fall by the wayside due to excess showbiz

But despite the temptation, the guitar virtuoso says that after becoming teetotal, he would now prefer a cup of tea to a night of booze And he credits the decision to keeping the group on track for more than five decades.

He says, « When I was in my twenties I used to hang out with my brothers in clubs, but I was never an alcoholic type so often my first thought was, ‘Can I have a cup of tea here? ‘

« But it’s true that this world encourages excess You try to help people who go down this path, but if they don’t see that they need help, that’s the most part. difficult

« I was lucky that my brother was in a band from the ’60s and said to us,’ You’re here to make music, so stick to that – don’t let not the lifestyle dominating you «  »

AC / DC have made a name for themselves as a premier rock band, filling the biggest stadiums in the world. But despite the music for almost 50 years, Angus and the guys still think they have a in my twenties and want to come back on stage Angus said: « I still consider myself 20 years old. I always said, ‘I want to play guitar and do it well’ That’s what I focused on »

AC / DC is one of those acts that will live on forever in memory – and that’s exactly what Angus Young wants

He says the band is his life and that they have tons of material that he hopes will eventually see the light of day after many sessions in the studio

And while he doesn’t plan too much for the future, he hopes to have another chance to perform in front of thousands of

Angus said, « Well, I’ve always thought a little bit, even back in the days when it was all in uncharted territory so to speak, I always thought, ‘I know I’m going to do something about it. AC / DC, whether it’s an unreleased set tracks or collections or something «

He added: « Everyone is getting old I don’t want to push them to feel like they have to but it was so good that we were all there together and having that bond again

« We have all become one unit and we want to get the most out of the songs
