Olympic swimmer Lisa Curry has officially farewelled her daughter Jaimi in a service she said was « just perfect ».
Curry, who shared Jaimi with her ex-husband former ironman Grant Kenny, posted a beautiful tribute photo to her Instagram with details of the funeral.
« As the last sun rays filtered through the trees onto you, fairy lights flickering everywhere around, with the most divine flowers surrounding you, and a room full of unconditional love, we farewelled you…. always our bubba. It was just perfect… beautiful, quiet, pretty and sparkly… just the way you would have wanted it. »
« Our little angel, you can now rest peacefully, » Curry’s caption continued. « Free of pain, free to flourish and free to grow, free to just be…
« Jaimi…as dad and I lovingly held you when you took your first breath, we lovingly held you as you took your last. Jaimi, my love, our hearts are aching, but know you will be forever with us, and forever loved wherever we go. Goodnight sweet girl… we hope you have a nice long sleep. »
Jaimi died last Monday, as announced in a statement from her father. « Jaimi will forever be remembered as a caring, bright and loving soul who always put others before herself, » the statement read. « Our hearts are broken and the pain is immense but we must move forward cherishing every wonderful moment we got to share with our treasured first child. »
The following morning, Curry shared a special tribute to her on social media: « Our beautiful daughter Jaimi has lost her battle with a long-term illness and passed away peacefully in hospital yesterday morning with her loving family by her side. So loved. So beautiful. So kind to everyone…. So painful. I can barely breathe. »
A few days later, the athlete thanked fans for their support. « Thank you so much for the outpouring of love and strength we are receiving. There are so many messages from so many people and it’s difficult to get back to all of you but in time we’ll try, » Curry wrote on Instagram, sharing a sweet photo of her and Jaimi holding hands.
Curry and Kenny, both 57, were married from 1996 until 2017. As well as Jaimi, they share daughter Morgan and son Jett.
