World News – AU – Kingscliff Triathlon Returns to Town – Echonetdaily

Over 900 athletes are expected to take to the streets of Kingscliff this weekend to compete in the annual Kingscliff Triathlon. That includes nearly 200 teenage athletes between the ages of 7 and 12 who may just be giving the adults a run for their money.

Race director Mike Crawley says this year’s race will be more anticipated by athletes due to the event’s postponement in March.

The event will have a reduced program over the weekend due to COVID-19 restrictions, but will continue to offer a variety of events for people of all abilities. This includes an aquathon for adults and children on Saturday and a sprint triathlon on Sunday.

Since the beginning of the marathon, work experience opportunities have been created and local community clubs supported. This year the event will support the Pottsville and District Men´s Shed, Rotary Club Banora Tweed, Currumbin Dragon Boaters, Cudgen Surf Life Saving Club, Cabarita Youth Service and Pottsville Croquet Club.

A number of local streets will be closed to accommodate the event, including Chinderah Bay Drive, Wommin Bay Road, Sutherland Street, and Marine Parade.
