Two children were rescued after being swept from stones in Woonona, but a man died after being dragged unconscious from the water.
Emergency services were called to Woonona Beach on Kurraba Road at around 5am. 40 a.m. (Saturday, 21. November 2020) in response to reports that several people had been washed into the ocean.
Officers from Wollongong Police District were told that the two children were playing in the water when they were washed up at sea.
Spectators used jet skis and surfboards to help the children get back on land. A man believed to be in his forties was dragged unconscious from the water.
