The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning for parts of Victoria, including Melbourne, after a long morning of heavy rainfall.
A trough over the western Victorian room slowly moving east all Monday could cause flash floods. It is not expected to go east after noon.
Other areas in Victoria that may be affected by today’s warning have been Ballarat, Geelong, Tralagon, Moe, and Bairnsdale.
To be on the safe side, the State of Emergency Service (SES) has recommended that residents secure their loose items (umbrellas, outdoor chairs). Stay away from fallen power lines, trees, drains, streams, waterways and gutters. Drive by if driving conditions are dangerous and if possible stay indoors until the weather clears.
