Port Adelaide announced its next CEO to replace Keith Thomas

Richardson’s appointment was announced by chairman David Koch to the club’s best and fairest on Thursday night and he replaces Keith Thomas who ends this week after more than nine years at the helm

Richardson has been at the club since 2001, starting as Marketing Director of the Magpies in SANFL, then becoming CEO when the Magpies were seen as a separate entity from Power

In 2008 Richardson joined Power as Managing Director of Marketing and Consumer Affairs and was promoted in 2018 to Executive Managing Director

« This is arguably the most important meeting of all clubs It’s one to never believe It’s a huge responsibility, » said Koch

« I have to admit I originally wanted someone from outside the club to fill the role Richo knows this

« But none of the candidates we spoke to seemed to have the full package Richo offered. I always subconsciously compare them to him

« I never wanted to be blamed for making the easy decision, so we asked Andrew Demetriou’s sports executive search agency to scour the market and put Richo to the test
