A person died and a search for a missing man after a boat capsized on Chemong Lake near the Curve Lake First Nation on Sunday morning
According to Peterborough County OPP Police Joe Ayotte, at around 6:40 a.m., emergency crews were called to the wharf at the end of Chemong Street South in Curve Lake to respond to reports of a capsized fishing with four people on board
Three people – a man and two women – were rescued from the water A fourth occupant – the owner of the boat – is still missing, Ayotte said
« The officers were assisted by members of the Curve Lake First Nation who were able to pull three people out of the water, » Ayotte told Global News Peterborough at the scene.
They were transported to Peterborough Regional Health Center where Ayotte says one of the men was pronounced dead
Ayotte said one of the female victims had fatal injuries and the other minor injuries
« The Curve Lake members who helped will be recommended for a rescue award – we want to thank them, » Ayotte said

OPP Marine Unit and Selwyn Township Fire Department continue to search for missing boater The Orillia OPP helicopter briefly joined the search but withdrew due to weather issues but could come back later, said Ayotte
Curve Lake First Nation Chief Emily Whetung offered all necessary resources to help with the search effort, added Ayotte
