Health Canada has launched a major recall of many wipe products sold in Halton Region and across Canada due to possible contamination that could cause infections
Recall affects Cottonelle & Cottonelle GentlePlus disposable wipes The company has reported that more than two million units of the affected products have been sold in Canada
« Some of the recalled products may contain the presence of a common household microorganism, Pluralibacter gergoviae, » Health Canada said in a statement « Pluralibacter gergoviae rarely causes serious infections in healthy people People with weakened immune systems, who have a serious pre-existing disease, who have been treated with surgery or who belong to another susceptible group are at risk increased infection if they use the contaminated product «
As of October 7, the company did not receive any reports of serious incidents or injuries in Canada
