The ridiculous Taskmaster game show series 10 debuts on Channel 4 tonight, with Alex Horne and Greg Davies asking a new cohort of comedians to do a variety of bizarre tasks for our entertainment
The show, which originally aired on Dave in 2015, has seen so many hilarious and brilliant moments over the past nine series, of Bob Mortimer and Alex Horne cuddling in the trunk of a car together, to Doc Brown trying to consume a whole pineapple in as little time as possible
Ahead of Series 10, we’ve broken down some of the best challenges in the history of the series and the Taskmaster lineup comedians who went above and beyond to impress Greg Davies
Over the years, Taskmaster has experienced some of the most ridiculous challenges, but none have been crazier than the Series 9 Chickpea Challenge
During Episode 10, the comedians were presented with a singular chickpea, found in an engagement ring box, and were asked to do « the most absurd thing » with it in just 20 minutes
While David Baddiel briefly considers jostling the chickpea « up [his] a ** e », it’s Ed Gamble who steals the show with his short film, in which he wine and dines his chickpea, wanders around before tragically witnessing being hit by a car Cut to the Taskmaster trailer, where Ed is seen in bed with the leftover chickpeas, which are now a jar of humous You Couldn’t Make This Up >
During Taskmaster’s fifth series, the comedians were asked to ‘give Alex a special hug’ – a task that seemed wide open to interpretation
Nish Kumar approached the ‘special hug’ by making it incredibly comfortable for Alex, tying several sofa cushions to himself and covering Alex with a blanket as they hugged
However, it was Bob Mortimer who stole the show by inviting Alex into the trunk of his car for an intensely claustrophobic – a frightening and unique rendition that earned him five points
In one of the most grueling tasks of the second series, the comedians were challenged to place three big yoga balls on top of a grassy hill in as little time as possible
Unsurprisingly, hilarity ensued, with Jon Richardson attempting to kick, throw and carry the bouncing balls on the mount, while Joe Wilkinson ended up rolling them one by one onto the hill
Comedian Rob Beckett became the champion of Taskmaster’s third series and after watching this clip it’s not hard to see why
In this particular challenge, the comedians were tasked with surprising Alex when he comes out of a shed in an hour and while Sara Pascoe and Al Murray initially considered removing Alex’s children from their school for them. present in front of the hangar, it was the surprise of Rob Beckett who won the five points
After an hour, Alex came out of the shed and found Rob Beckett sitting on a couch, dressed as a grandma before the comedian yelled « Alex, you were a bad boy » and pulled him away. a water pistol in the face
The winner of the sixth series, Liza Tarbuck, took a task to a whole new level in the last episode of the series, to the point where Alex found himself sitting in a cake
The comedians were challenged to declare their love for the Taskmaster in the most meaningful way – which Liza did by using Alex as Greg’s proxy, and asking him to place her « bare a ** e « in a flan filled cake
While Liza seemed to think it would be a pleasant experience, Alex’s face said otherwise as he crushed the cake and then said to Liza, « I had never felt anything before. It was so inside me «
The second series introduced the comedians to what seemed like a relatively simple task that ultimately turned out to be much more difficult than expected
Contestants were asked to hide an entire pineapple on their person, and while some of the celebrities were convinced that eating would be cheating, Doc Brown and Jon Richardson took to devouring the whole fruit and struggled to do it
Meanwhile, Katherine Ryan, Joe Wilkinson, and Richard Osman have been looking for other ways to cover up the pineapple, by stuffing chopped pieces into a corset, putting it in shoes and shock absorbers, and even putting it on. filming on their body
During the fifth series, the comedians had to access their inner maestro for a particular challenge, which involved writing and performing a song in 30 minutes about Rosalind – a complete stranger sat in front of them
Divided into two groups, the comedians had five minutes to get to know Rosalind, during which they learned that she was a Japanese translator from Southport with two sons and a track judge in her spare time.
As a result, two wonderful songs were born – Nish Kumar and Mark Watson’s indie rock banger, I’m Always Seeing You (Do Cool Stuff), and Aisling Bea, Bob Mortimer and Sally Phillips Rosalind’s pop ballad. Nightmare
Taskmaster set the bar very high in his first round when it comes to task performance, mainly due to Josh Widdicombe’s victory in one particular challenge
In the third episode of the series, the comedians were urged to buy the best gift for Greg Davies with £ 20 within 10 weeks As Frank Skinner, Roisin Conaty, Romesh Ranganathan and Tim Key took a more conventional route , Josh Widdecombe chose to buy something he and Greg will never forget – a tattoo of Greg’s name on his ankle
The collection of comedians from the fourth series faced a rather tantalizing challenge in episode eight: they were asked to « make the most exotic sandwich, » with 10 minutes to plan it and 10 minutes to do it. build
As Mel Giedroyc took the sweet route, with Crunchies, Nutella, Chocolate Orange and Double Deckers, Noel Fielding called on Alex’s efforts to make his exotic sandwich He tied several pieces of bread to the head of Alex before having her perform a striptease, while Noel watched her own handmade bread peep show
The joke was soon on Noel, when his second challenge was to eat the sandwich he had made…
In one of the most bizarre challenges seen on Taskmaster, the series, two celebrities were asked to impress the mayor of Chesham at the time – Peter Hudson
Doc Brown approached the task singing a heartfelt ballad to the mayor, while Joe Wilkinson went to the corner store and gave Hudson exactly 42 Calippo popsicles and eight cans of strong lager.
