World News – GB – Another report as Wexford confirms positive case

Another SSE Airtricity League match tonight has been postponed after Wexford FC confirmed a positive case of Covid-19 among their squad

Currently at the bottom of the Premier League, Ferrycarrig Park club were due to move up the east coast to later face the title challengers Drogheda United

But the game is closed, with the FAI saying in a statement that there had been « potential identification » of close contact with the player who tested positive on the team

It comes at the end of a tough week for the South East side which was point-deducted for fielding an unreadable player

The news follows Wexford GAA confirming six positive test results between their senior hurling and football teams

Meanwhile, this is League of Ireland’s second postponement this week after Shamrock Rovers saw three of their matches reorganized yesterday

Earlier this month, St Patrick’s Athletic and Galway United had to postpone games after positive test results in their respective teams

The season has already been extended due to the number of matches that had to be reorganized

We regret to announce that tonight’s game has been canceled due to a possible case of COVID in our team
A new date for the match will be announced in due course imageTwittercom / r2i00Pg98j
