Sam Lowes took the win as his racing rival lost the lead in the Moto2 Grand Prix race and title race at MotorLand Aragon
With Luca Marini out of the race early on, everything was to play in terms of the race and the title and that was reflected in the action on the track
His Sky Racing Team VR46 teammate Marco Bezzecchi came in first in the race and looked set to take over the overall standings before retiring from the competition on the penultimate lap
Pole Lowes had been pushing for the lead with the duo clear in front, so the British rider only needed to maintain his position which he did to win his second race in a row with EG 0.0 Marc VDS This is Lowes’ second victory in Aragon after crossing the finish line on the track in 2016
The battle for third became the battle for second with this outing and Enea Bastianini pushed to the limit to maximize his points return, overtaking rival Jorge Martin one last time when it mattered most and held firm to claim the second for Italtrans, a heavy 4195s behind
This puts the Italian at the top of the overall standings with a total of 155, with winner Lowes just two points behind

His team-mate Joe Roberts didn’t quite match his heroic rally at Le Mans and finished eighth this time around
Number sixteen was almost two seconds ahead of ninth place Tetsuta Nagashima (Red Bull KTM Ajo) with veteran Simone Corsi for his first top ten of the season with MV Agusta Forward Racing
Augusto Fernandez (EG 0,0 Marc VDS) was almost two seconds behind when he crossed the eleventh line, winning his battle for position with Tom Luthi, the Liqui Moly Intact GP rider having to settle for twelfth

Marcel Schrotter made his way to the end point from 22nd place on the grid during the second Intact GP entry
