The Gunners’ perfect start to the new season will be put to the test as they face a side that has also won both of their opening Premier League games – scoring seven in the process.
For Mikel Arteta, it’s another chance to improve on his impressive record in the competition from his time as Pep Guardiola’s assistant head coach at Manchester City.
And despite the threat of a fixture congestion, the Gunners manager is planning to name a strong team against their Premier League counterparts.
« We are going to take the Carabao Cup seriously, that is for sure, » he told reporters ahead of his side’s third-round clash.
« Maybe not in the first games but when the competition moves a little more forward, how teams – not just ourselves – are going to treat the competition.
« But we have to go day by day, lets see what position we are in for Wednesday to try and put out the strongest possible team to try and win it. »

Fans want to see Alex Runarsson make his debut just days after his £1m transfer was confirmed as he has been chosen to start in between the sticks ahead of Bernd Leno.
In front of him, fans are hoping for at least two changes to the back three which started against the Hammers with William Saliba coming in for his debut and David Luiz getting the nod over Gabriel Magalhaes.
