England Under-21 boss Aidy Boothroyd has praised Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham, insisting he is the ‘oldest young player’ he ever met

The 17-year-old made the huge move from Birmingham to Dortmund this summer, but he has taken over in the Bundesliga and has already played for many more minutes than expected

Bellingham became the youngest player to play for England’s Under-21s in early September, and is back with Boothroyd’s squad for the current series of international matches

Speaking of the maturity of the midfielder denying his years, the Young Lions boss said: «  He is the oldest young player I have ever metHe’s settled in now, he’s comfortable in his surroundings, he gives the guys sticks and he’s recovering a bit

‘He has to get his education he is learning German, he is trying to learn to drive and he is doing his driving test in Germany He has a lot of things to do and he likes that he can just go out and train and be free

‘He made a brilliant start at Dortmund to become the Young Player of the Month I fully expect him to build on that and I have been really impressed with him as a person and as a that player He really does honor to his parents, a cute guy, he walks into the room with a huge smile

‘He’s always looking for who he can extract from more experienced players He’s settled down well and I’m really happy with his performance in training He’ll be involved tomorrow night As an Under-21 we’re really happy to have such talent with us’

Boothroyd was speaking on Monday night ahead of his side’s game against Turkey in the UEFA Under-21 Championship qualifying

The match takes place in Molineux and Bellingham should have even more minutes under his belt for the national team, before returning to club service with Dortmund

In the Bundesliga, he has already won the ‘Rookie of the Month’ award after shining in his first matches with Lucien Favre’s men
