World News – GB – Chinese zoo worker bruised by bears in front of horrified visitors

A zoo worker was mutilated to death by a group of bears over the weekend in China as visitors stared at him in horror

The horrific incident took place in the ‘wild beast’ exhibit at the Shanghai Wildlife Park on Saturday, BBC reported

Images posted on Chinese social media platform Weibo show park visitors screaming from inside a tour bus as a group of bears run towards the employee and surround him, Australian outlet ABC News reported

« There is someone! » one of the park visitors shouts, while another could be heard asking, « What’s going on? »

Shanghai Wildlife Park said it was « saddened » by the death of the employee in a statement posted on its website

« Our park is extremely saddened by such a tragedy, expressing its sincere condolences to the deceased, expressing its deep sympathy to the families of the deceased and apologizing for the inconvenience caused to the tourists, » the statement read.

It is not known what type of bear was involved or if they will stay in the animal park

The exhibit has been temporarily closed to visitors as the park is working with local authorities to investigate the incident, the zoo said
