Coronation Street viewers saw Todd Grimshaw (played by Gareth Pierce) return to the ITV soap opera last week after three long years away from the screens, with the character sure to have a huge impact on his return to Weatherfield, one person who will feel the effects more than most is Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank), who was with Todd during his previous time on the cobblestones But with so much going on for Billy, things seem to get even more complicated when he offers him an interview for an exciting new position as Archdeacon, however, could this be a sign that he’s about to step down? to separate from Paul (Peter Ash)?
Billy was among the residents looking for Todd in recent weeks, while the latter’s mother, Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) has remained in Thailand
Viewers last week saw Todd finally catch up on his return to Weatherfield
With so much going on in Billy’s life already, he will soon face another curve when offered an interview for a promotion at work
But while the potential archdeacon position is a fantastic opportunity for Billy, he doesn’t seem safe to jump at the chance.
He explained: « Well I think at first he is very excited because obviously it’s like the right arm of a bishop
« It’s a lot of extra responsibility, which I think is so tied to Paul and everything in between
« I think he’s worried he won’t have enough time to split his time evenly between Paul and Summer (Matilda Freeman) and this rather time-consuming job if he gets it, » the actor warned.
With Todd back in the mix, Summer’s attention will inevitably be elsewhere following a spectacular return from his father figure
While Billy struggles with what to do, another resident encourages him to participate in the interview
Daniel added, « I think Billy switches between absolutely wanting to go get the job and then no, then he does it and then he doesn’t, he does it and then he doesn’t

« It’s actually Paul who convinces him to go to the job interview at the end, but I think at this point it’s more to do with everything

« There’s a lot going on with Todd, and Paul, Summer and work and I think it gets a bit too much for him when he decides he’s not going to work
However, given that all of these different events in Billy’s life prove difficult to follow, will he have to make a huge decision about his future?
Perhaps he could realize that he no longer has time for his relationship with Paul and part ways with his beloved partner
When Todd returns to the streets, he will soon be declaring his feelings for Billy again
But when asked who he thought Billy should be with, Daniel replied, « It would be Todd in the end, because Paul is constantly complaining! It can’t be fun to be in a relationship where you have to keep correcting someone all the time
« This won’t be a quick fix from Billy Ultimately he has to do the right thing for himself too. He’s not entirely selfless, so he has to think about his own desires and needs «
