World News – GB – Curtis Jones shines the spotlight on another Liverpool prospect after Lincoln rout

Curtis Jones starred in Lincoln’s 7-2 demolition at Liverpool on Thursday night, but he took the opportunity to give another Anfield Perspective some sparkle, Rhys Williams

The 19-year-old defender made his senior debut in the Carabao Cup third round game and Jones felt he looked 100% like a first-team player »

Williams spent last season on loan at Kidderminster Harriers and is hoping to have more first-team opportunities with Liverpool this campaign, which Jones feels he deserves

« I played throughout Academy with him, » Jones said of Williams. « Then he had a loan spell and he did well

« He arrived and today he looked 100% like a first team player. He has been with the team for years

« I’m really happy for Rhys and hope he has more time to play because he deserves it

« But again, as young boys we have to respect the manager and his staff. We are 100% ready and I am certainly ready to leave when asked »

Jones is more likely to be seen regularly in Liverpool’s starting XI than Williams, with the midfielder pushing for more regular inclusion in major competitions

The 19-year-old scored his fourth and fifth goals for the club against Imps and relishes a clash with Arsenal in the next round

« Entering a competition like this I think the underdog can always surprise you a little bit But I thought the boys were 100% there and I think they showed it today  » he said

« I’m happy [with my goals] but more importantly the boys took the win and we move on to the next round

« They all matter – a goal is a goal for me I’m glad the boys won and we’re on the next round

« I look forward to [Arsenal] and, again, I will give 100% if I start or leave the bench. I will give 100%

« Every game I play is an opportunity for me and the rest of the guys Every game I’m called to I always said I would give 100% This is what I try to do

« I think the performances show a glimpse of what I’m capable of but I still have a lot to learn and I have to be patient and my time will come »

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is thrilled with Jones’ progress and we can expect to see more ‘outstanding talent’ in the near future

« There is still room for improvement but everyone knows my opinion of Curtis Jones, he is an exceptional talent and we are going to have fun with him I’m pretty sure in the future » , said the German

‘Both goals were difficult, the second, the first contact was absolutely exceptional between two opponents, then he opens and sees the opportunity and ends »
