Fire crews have been called to King Street in Ealing, west London in what they call a « complex operation »
The explosion is said to have occurred in a phone store, Dr Phone, with apartments above and left at least one man injured
Shop owner Jatinder Singh, 36, said he received a phone call from a neighbor telling him his mobile phone shop had been totally destroyed
Station commander Alan Brand, who is at the scene, said: “Four adults and a child were rescued from the back of the property by firefighters using a ladder
Fourteen other adults and two children self-evacuated from the surrounding properties Teams of specialists are looking in the building for any other person likely to be involved
« This is an ongoing operation and I would ask people to avoid the area if possible »
The Brigade was called to 0638 Six fire trucks and about 40 firefighters Southall, Hayes, Heston, Ealing and Feltham fire stations are on the scene
Much of the road was closed following reports of the explosion inside a store
Footage from the scene earlier this morning shows a huge emergency response, with many saying the store and some of the above goods have been completely destroyed
