By Dan Ambrose: Gervonta Davis says Teofimo Lopez managed to beat Vasily Lomachenko this month, but his victory was not « convincing » in his eyes
Davis (23-0, 22 KOs) saw Teofimo (16-0, 12 KOs) use his larger size to beat smaller, older fighter Lomachenko (14-2, 10 KOs) by a decision of 12 rounds on October 17th
Tank believes Lopez doesn’t have the full package as a fighter, and he would like to fight him if he stays at 135 Reacting to a comment from Teofimo about not being interested in fighting him, Davis says it’s probably because he’s big for the 135 lb division
In other words, Teofimo is expected to fight in the 140 pound weight class, which is better for his height
Teofimo will look to stay at 135 long enough to use his height advantage to beat WBC lightweight champion Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia It’s unclear how long Teofimo, 23, will be able to continue to weight for the division
Lopez looked emaciated at the weigh-in of Lomachenko’s fight, and he was showing signs of weight loss in the second half of this contest
“He did the job, he did what he had to do,” Tank Davis told Max on Boxing on his thoughts on Teofimo’s victory over Lomachenko “And he was younger; he was stronger and taller
« And he did what he had to do, and he said he was going to come and beat him, and that’s what he did Now, I wouldn’t say it was so convincing, but it definitely got the job done, ”Gervonta said of Teofimo
You can argue that Lopez won the fight by default based on the fact that Lomachenko gave the first seven rounds If Lomachenko had fought hard in at least three of those rounds, he would have won the fight
We don’t know how much Lomachenko’s right shoulder impacted his performance Lopez seems to think injury wasn’t a factor in the fight and Lomachenko wasn’t throwing because he wasn’t didn’t want to be touched
When you see a fighter known to be busy not throwing punches, it’s reasonable to assume he’s been injured.It’s completely understandable that Teofimo doesn’t want to attribute his victory to the injury of Lomachenko
It takes a humble person to admit that his injury victory was due to his opponent’s injury.In terms of popularity and future salaries, it’s not worth Teofimo to admit that Lomachenkos’ injury has caused him helped win
It is also important that Teofimo does not give Lomachenko revenge as he could beat him if he is healthy next time. Once that happens, all of the fame and glory Teofimo receives will disintegrate on the spot Teofimo will be seen as another successful wonder like Buster Douglas
But even if Teofimo no longer fights Lomachenko, he could still be turned into another Douglas if he loses to someone
“He’s 135, so I absolutely have to keep my eyes on him,” Davis continued of Lopez. “The reason he says his eyes aren’t on me is that he’s struggled to make the weight because he’s too fat at 135, and I’d be strong to move up to 135

What we saw Lomachenko lay out in the second half of the fight with Teofimo was a fighter who has too many holes to remain a champion for long Without the Top Rank neatly matching Lopez, he is going to end up like a lot of wonders at a blow
Teofimo probably won’t give Top Rank the go-ahead to face him against some guys like Tank Davis and a rematch with Lomachenko There’s too much chance Teofimo will lose to them and his career will be forgotten
You will have to favor Tank Davis if he were to fight Teofimo right away Teofimo’s inability to handle pressure and be supported will do him great harm against a fighter like Davis
As a result, Teofimo does not want to participate in the Tank fight, and for good reason He will likely lose. All we saw Lomachenko do to Teofimo in the second half are things Davis would do
“I just gotta go out there and do my best and be me,” Tank said when asked how he could make a statement against Santa Cruz “Put on a great performance and don’t worry about the person next and how their performance was

Many boxing fans would disagree with Davis about his vision of Santa Cruz not having wear and tear on him Santa Cruz, 32, appears to have lost something and saw it during his last fight against Miguel Flores
At the start of this fight, Flores has played two of his last three games He obviously did not rate the fight for a world title against Santa Cruz
« He [Santa Cruz] definitely presents a challenge, » said Gervonta « He’s the one who called me So he has to see something in me for him to call me and say he wants this fight
« He was begging this fight, and it was up to me to take this fight. He gets to 130, and he won my old belt [WBA super featherweight title] That’s what champions do, like when I ‘was increased to 135

Santa Cruz has indeed made it known that he wants the fight with Gervonta in the worst possible way. Obviously, money was the primary factor for Leo who wanted to face Tank
