Holidays in Spain have been on a rollercoaster this year as the country’s tourism has suffered from the coronavirus pandemic The country was excluded from the UK’s travel corridor on July 25 amid the increase of COVID-19 cases This meant anyone returning from mainland Spain, the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands had to be quarantined for 14 days

Although these rules still apply to the mainland and the Balearics, the Canaries have now been liberated

The archipelago off the coast of northwest Africa was added to the «  safe  » list today, following an announcement by Transport Secretary Grant Shapps on Thursday

Jet2 and TUI have now restarted flights to the Canaries following its addition to the ‘safe’ list while other airlines have quickly launched vacation offers

The archipelago off the east coast of Spain consists of popular destinations Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza, Formentera and a selection of small islands

If you are traveling to a Balearic Island you will need to quarantine yourself for 14 days upon your return to the UK as they are all still missing from the list of travel lanes

The use of face masks is mandatory on all forms of public transport in Spain and in many other indoor and outdoor public spaces
