But UFC President Dana White has revealed a deal has been made for the 29-year-old to take on rising star Chimaev
White told the Jim Rowe Show: « We just made a deal for Leon Edwards vs Chimaev

Edwards was set to face former welterweight king Tyron Woodley in March in the headliner of UFC London
Chimaev on the other hand has fought three times this year, twice on Fight Island in July
The 26-year-old Russian-born Swede won his UFC debut over John Phillips in middleweight and ten days later arrested Rhys McKee
He then maintained his winning streak with a 17-second knockout against Gerald Meerschaert last month
Promoter White tipped Chimaev to superstar if he can beat Edwards, who has a chance to steal the show from the future comer
He said: « This guy had 30,000 followers in his first fight, he now has almost a million followers
« This kid is one fight away from being a massive superstar If he can beat Leon Edwards, he will be a huge superstar in the UFC »
