The government introduced a tiered ‘rule of three’ system to simplify local lockdowns in coronavirus hotspots

To ‘simplify’ the rules, Boris Johnson has introduced a new model of ‘Local Covid Alert Levels’ in England that will function as a traffic light systemUnder the system there will be three levels – medium, high and very high

In areas with particularly high infection levels, pubs, gyms and casinos may be forced to close in order to stop the spread

Prime Minister said new Covid alert levels were introduced to « crush this virus wherever it appears »
