Joao Teixeira praised Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp as he recalled the German’s arrival at Anfield in 2015

Klopp has taken over following the sacking of Brendan Rodgers at the start of the 2015/16 season, the Reds 10th in the Premier League and without a trophy for more than three years

He has since led Liverpool to Champions League and Premier League glory, ending the club’s 30-year wait for a league title last season

And the Reds’ success in recent seasons will come as no surprise to former Portuguese starlet Teixeira, who spent eight months working under Klopp in her first season at the helm.

Recalling Klopp’s management style, Teixeira told Portuguese newspaper Record: “He is a very confident person and a natural motivator He conveys everything he feels He is very good! «

Klopp gave Teixeira his first start for Liverpool just weeks after taking office, and the forward rewarded the squad with an assist in a 1-0 League Cup win over Bournemouth

Teixeira then scored his first and only goal for the Reds in the FA Cup in January 2016 before leaving for Porto at the end of the season

The former Portuguese youth international joined Liverpool academy in 2012 and has been touted as ‘the new decor’

When asked if the wait on him at Anfield hindered his development, Teixeira replied: « No, because I don’t really care about that sort of thing. »

After stints at Braga and Vitoria Guimaraes, Teixeira joined Feyenoord earlier this year, where he works under former Arsenal and Manchester United striker Robin van Persie, now manager of the Dutch club

Discussing his move to the Eredivisie, Teixeira added: « They are the ones who really showed the greatest interest in me

« It was the right choice because they are a great club in the Netherlands. We are fighting to be champions and I wanted to take a step forward

« He (Van Persie’s) is very social and always in a good mood He does more work on the pitch with forwards He helps them a lot in terms of movement and finishing, but he is super simple Easy to communicate with him «
