People were shocked and wondering why the vandals would target the tombstones of Cilla Black and Sir Ken Dodd at Allerton Cemetery

The two Liverpool celebrities are buried in Allerton Cemetery, where graves were vandalized overnight by yobs

Sir Ken’s gravestone has now had to be removed from his final resting place for further cleaning, while Cilla’s gravestone could be repaired on site

A post in a community Facebook group claimed the graffiti was ‘offensive’, but the exact nature of the vandalism has not been confirmed

He understood that both families had been made aware of the vandalism and that the Liverpool Council was working to make the repairs in a timely manner

A council spokesperson said: ‘We were dismayed this morning to discover that the graves of Cilla Black and Sir Ken Dodd had been vandalized overnight Staff carry out repairs

Sir Ken passed away on March 18, 2018, at the age of 90, at his home in Knotty Ash, the same house he was born and raised in

He was laid to rest, alongside his mother Sarah and father Arthur, during a private funeral service at Allerton Cemetery in Liverpool

Surprise! Surprise! Star Cilla Black was buried just steps from her parents’ graves, and her headstone is a marble memorial that describes her as a « devoted mother and grandmother »

Cilla died in August 2016 at the age of 72 and her tombstone bears her name « Cilla Black OBE » above the single word: « Singer »

The gravestone also gives her full name, Priscilla Maria Veronica Willis, née White, and her date of birth and death: May 27, 1943 and August 1, 2015

It reads: « Bobby’s beloved wife, devoted mother and grandmother She celebrated life by living it and loved to entertain »
