Sheridan Smith has pleaded with cruel online trolls to leave her and her baby son be after they targeted her for not showing his face on social media
Sheridan Smith has issued a heartbreaking message to online trolls asking that they leave her and her son alone.
Proud mum Sheridan, 39, who welcomed baby boy Billy back in May, was targeted by trolls after she told followers she wouldn’t be sharing any snaps of the tot’s face.
« I won’t be putting pics of the boy up on social media, » she wrote, « But basically … he looks like a male version of me. Just less 80’s and more handsome! God love him! we all send our love. »
And while many understood Sheridan’s choice and backed her up, some used the post as an opportunity to take a cruel swipe.
Referring to her recent documentary Sheridan Smith: Becoming Mum – which her son didn’t appear in – one wrote: « But you’ll happily abuse his right to privacy to make TV documentaries. And cash. The hypocrisy of Sheridan. »
Sheridan came back: « He wasn’t in it but I’m sorry you feel that way. I was just expressing my mental health issues and hoping to help others.x. »
Later she added: « I know I can’t stop [trolls] but my boy is the only thing that keeps me going.
Former Strictly dancer Kevin Clifton was quick to support her, writing: « I really don’t understand the mindset of people who make these comments. »
She openly discussed fears that mental health issues would resurface during her pregnancy, telling the cameras: « It’s such a huge thing to have a baby.
« There are so many women out there who feel the same as me, who are just as scared as me, and we need to go and get some answers. »
Sheridan witnessed an outpouring of fan support, writing on Twitter : « Want to thank u all for the love & support after last night’s documentary, been blown away & truly overwhelmed by people’s kindness, u have no idea how much it means.
« »& if u’re not totally bored of me, which u well may be Black Work is on @ITV 9pm tonight & next 3 nights! [love] u x. »
