Steph McGovern’s daytime TV show Packed Lunch was hit with a viewership hit just weeks after its relaunch
The British journalist, 38, returned to screens on September 14 after presenting The Steph Show for Channel 4 from her home during the lockdown
However, Barb viewing figures on Tuesday revealed that at age 12 at 56:00 a.m. no viewers were logged into the new format, reports The Mirror
While boasting an array of renowned guests, such as Vogue Williams, Oti Mabuse and Chris Kamara, Packed Lunch competes with the well-established Loose Women show on ITV
A source said: ‘It was a tough call to take on a show as established and beloved as Loose Women and there is no doubt the decision is hurting C4 and these ratings show it.’
However, Channel 4 said: « On Tuesday, Steph’s packed lunch drew an average audience of 87,000 viewers over 1230h – 222h and drew 204,000 at its peak
‘Steph brought an explosion of energy to our daytime line-up and we are thrilled with the live shows the team produced’
Loose Women is believed to have had a million viewers on the same day
Steph has spoken of being ‘nervous’ before promoting her show and revealed that she would blame herself if it didn’t work out well
She said, ‘But yeah, when your name’s on the box there’s no one else to blame if it’s garbage If it’s garbage it’s my fault’
Packed Lunch is filmed from a Channel 4 studio in Leeds and also sees a host of top chefs preparing delicious lunchtime treats including Jack Stein, Dr Rupy Aujla and former Great British Bake Off winner John Whaite
It comes after Steph announced his Channel 4 talk show would be cut amid the coronavirus lockdown, after the decision to broadcast from his Harrogate home infuriated his neighbors in April
Steph hosted The Steph Show from his home in Yorkshire, but revealed via Twitter that the show will cease airing, for now, on May 7
The star, mother of a little girl with her partner, cited family reasons when announcing the news to her followers
She wrote: « Even though I enjoyed doing a home lockout show, I didn’t expect it to last that long. We decided it was time to do a break and return our home to my family
Steph continued: « The appropriate program will be launched when the Leeds studio is sorted, I may still be wearing slippers »
She added: « The last locked version of #TheStephShow will be on Thursday 7th May next » Then there are plans to launch again at our chic Leeds Docks studios in a few months, once they are up and running in all safety »
The news came after it was claimed that Steph streaming from his home had not impressed his neighbors
According to The Sun, other residents have started to be hacked by the round trips of the set from their homes
It has been claimed that “production equipment parked outside and the steady flow of deliveries for The Steph Show has gone down badly”
