Queensland Health backtracked after doing an absolute roast for saying that three AFL bales were equal to 15m in length
The organization blundered in a social distancing health reminder to the Queenslanders on Saturday, ahead of the historic AFL Grand Final at the Gabba in Brisbane
Trying to capitalize on the buzz surrounding the big game, QLD Health posted an image to Facebook asking viewers to visualize the length of three AFL balls taking into account a safe distance from others
« How do you visualize 15m? Today we use about 3 AFL balls », read the original post
« When it comes to social distancing, no matter what you visualize, what matters most is that you stay safe 15m away from others »
Unsurprisingly, the message and the organization were quickly roasted on the internet, with many slamming QLD Health for missing the mark so badly
« Whaaaaaaaat? A soccer ball is 30cm or less 15m that is FIVE balls Please if you can’t give good information shut them rather than giving bad information « wrote Rebecca Appleton
« It makes sense to take the wrong measurement because it’s the only sport that gives you a point to get close enough, » wrote Amanda Mac
But now the organization has responded to the fury, changing the goals by suggesting that the mistake makes everyone more aware of social distancing
« If you are going somewhere busier this weekend, be sure to wash or sanitize your hands often, cover your coughs and sneezes, and stay home if you feel unwell «
