Two of Australia’s most iconic local figures, Hamish Blake and Zoe Foster-Blake, help inspire travelers to book their next national vacation as part of Tourism Australia’s latest campaign launched today’ hui

The latest iteration of Tourism Australia’s ‘Holiday Here This Year’ campaign, first launched in January, aims to inspire Australians to travel safely across the country to give business a much-needed boost and tour operators

Tourism Australia chief executive Phillipa Harrison said that with the lifting of national restrictions and improved consumer confidence, now is the time to inspire Australians capable of planning and booking their next vacation

« Our ‘Vacation here this year’ campaign aims to get Australians to support their fellow Australians by booking vacations wherever they can in the country, » said Ms Harrison

« As the peak summer travel season quickly approaches, it is essential that we continue to remind people of all the amazing tourist destinations and experiences that are right on their doorstep waiting to be explored. » p>

« This will only be the first in a series of initiatives that we will be implementing over the coming months to continue to generate as much domestic demand as possible, especially in regions and operators which are generally valued international visitors

« Our aim is to try and make Australians travel differently by using the ‘Holiday Here This Year’ campaign platform to get them to start ticking off their holiday list or head between states for a trip of a lifetime, and in turn providing a much needed boost, especially in areas most affected by bushfires and COVID-19

« We are also delighted to welcome Hamish and Zoe to our Friends of Australia program to help tell our story by sharing their love of travel and providing lots of vacation inspiration to Australians of all ages »

The campaign follows the launch of a teaser video voiced by Hamish Blake on Tourism Australia’s social and digital channels, which takes viewers on a journey through some of Australia’s most breathtaking landscapes and reminds them of undeniably unique aspects of our country

Federal Tourism Minister Simon Birmingham said the campaign is aimed at getting more Australians on planes and spending in our cities or tourist regions

« Tourism employs one in 13 Australians and is the backbone of so many businesses in Australia, but the industry has been hit hard by the COVID-19 crisis, » Minister Birmingham said

« With interstate travel now possible in many parts of Australia, there is no better opportunity than now for Australians to book a plane ticket, to head to a destination interstate and help save a tourism business or the work of an Australian colleague

« We urge Australians to support our airlines and airports, tour operators, car rental companies and hosts, while giving people the chance to enjoy some of the incredible experiences our country has to offer.

« With our international borders to remain closed for the foreseeable future and the summer holidays only a few months away, it’s a cry to all Australians who are in a position to do this, to try something new and consider booking a vacation to a destination in Australia they have never been to before

“Whether it’s a surf lesson in Byron Bay, a wine tasting experience in the Adelaide Hills, a boat trip to the Great Barrier Reef or a guided walking tour of the Top End, the ‘Australia has so many unique tourism and wonderful experiences « 

Hamish and Zoe said they were excited to help the country bounce back from a tough year by getting Australians to travel

« It’s really special to be able to help promote our country because we love to travel, we love adventure and we love Australia so we can’t really think of anything that fits better », Hamish and Zoe said

« We know everyone is craving a vacation right now, so it’s not exactly a tough sale, but hopefully we can help convince people who are delaying or had something planned to abroad, to book vacations here Not only will they create amazing memories, but they will help the tourism industry across the country to bounce back «

The campaign will be rolled out across a range of channels including print, social media, research, radio and outdoor advertising and will be supported by a national media hosting program, campaign content on Tourism Australia’s social media and digital channels, and amplified through partnerships with industry and content Activity will be phased in across states to reflect local travel restrictions

Tourism Australia also continues to provide consumers with the practical resources and inspiration they need to book vacations and travel safely in Australia, with tailored content, itineraries and industry offers in Australia.com

This includes a new online COVID Australian travel portal available at https: // wwwAustraliecom / en / facts-and-planning / useful-tips / travel-safety-coronavirushtml which brings together key information on safety, restrictions guidelines and directions from across the country
