Australian drummer Steve Smith has excluded himself from the country’s Big Bash League (BBL) this season, claiming that continuing to play in bio-secure bubbles will impact his mental health
Smith has lived life in different bubbles before, first when the Australian T20 team toured England and now with the Rajasthan Royals as part of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), which is play in United Arab Emirates
The Big Bash League is set to start in December and run through February, with Australia’s national team players set to play for their national teams in the final stages after the India tour to Australia – which will also be played organically – secure bubbles

Smith isn’t the first player to worry about the sanity of players in the bubbles, with England captain Eoin Morgan also saying players could opt out of tours if their sanity is at risk.
