John Dolmayan is the System of a Down drummer who has made pro-Donald Trump statements and rallied around Black Lives Matter, Bill Clinton and Bernie Sanders
On November 6, System of a Down released their first new music in 15 years The band released two songs « Protect the Land » and « Genocidal Humanoidz » In a statement, the group said the new music was published following Azerbaijani military attacks against Armenia on the disputed area of Artsakh

Before the music was released, Dolmayan told Rolling Stone that he wanted the US to intervene in Artsakh saying:
What I would like [Trump] to do is protect the interests of the United States but, at the same time, protect the values of the United States and what we stand for There is injustice We can’t clash just for monetary reasons I understand that we have to think about the interest in the [US] going forward, but we have to walk and talk Don’t be hypocritical

Dolmayan is the brother-in-law of Serj Tankian, lead singer of System of a Down In June 2020, Dolmayan called Trump a “minority best friend,” in an Instagram post Dolmayan’s comments were accompanied by a message published showing Donald Trump claiming his administration « has done more for the black community than any president since Abraham LincolnAround the same time, Tankian posted on his Instagram page calling on protesters to continue mobilizing in an attempt to force President Trump to resign.
