Jon Jones recently gave up his UFC light heavyweight title but now that there is a new champion in the division, he is already considering a comeback
After defeating Dominick Reyes in February and then engaging in a public battle with the UFC for the money, Jones ultimately decided to quit his 205-pound title and turn to heavyweight instead.
Then on Saturday night, Jan Blachowicz won the belt with a dominant second-round TKO finish against Reyes in the UFC 253 co-main event
After Blachowicz dismantled Reyes, he was quick to invite Jones to return to his old playground to try to reclaim the title
« Jon Jones, where are you? » Blachowicz shouted at the former champion after his victory « I am here This is how we proceed in Poland I am waiting for you »
This obviously caught Jones’ attention. He took to Twitter to congratulate Blachowicz on his win first, then hinted that maybe his light heavyweight days are not behind him. after all
« Would you be annoyed if I came back and grabbed my belt really fast? » Jones wrote
This post came after a fan slammed Jones about him facing Blachowicz power after a third knockout in the Polish star’s last four wins
While Jones’ post may appear to tease a potential light heavyweight return, it remains to be seen if he actually wanted to go back and fight for the title he just gave up.
Most recently, Jones hit the weight room to start bloating in hopes of booking a heavyweight fight when he returns to action
During the post-fight UFC 253 press conference, UFC president Dana White said he still hadn’t spoken to Jones, but if he really wanted to go back to light heavyweights, promotion would obviously give him the first chance at Blachowicz
For his part, Blachowicz didn’t seem at all impressed with Jones’ performance on Twitter after calling him earlier that night
