World News – UA – NRL accused of failing to act about airport meeting involving Cowboys player

The husband, according to the Sydney Morning Herald report, also received valium from Cowboys football manager Peter Parr and provided with a fake medical certificate from Cowboys club doctor Chris Ball, after learning about the date

The meeting was said to have taken place in the washroom at Qantas Lounge in mid-2018 when the Cowboys were returning to Townsville via Brisbane

The wife is a club employee After her husband learned about the date, he was furious with his wife and the Cowboys

Parr, according to a letter sent by the husband’s lawyer to the integrity unit, gave the husband valium « to help him cope with the shock » of discovering the case on the day of fathers day

The incident was first reported to the NRL by husband’s lawyer John Sneddon in October last year

Parr denied that the tablets belonged to him and said they were given to him after he « went to the doctor »

The husband, however, is a long-haul truck driver and later tested positive for benzodiazepine in a workplace drug test

« [The husband] had been through a family crisis and was stressed and unable to sleep, » Dr. Ball wrote to the truck company

When asked why there was no written prescription, Dr Ball said that he « does not prescribe a benzodiazepine » and that he « gave [the husband] a sample of four tablets of diazepam [Valium]… to facilitate sleep «

Further follow-ups indicated that Dr Ball, whom the husband claims he never met, had stopped providing medication to the man

Parr said he regretted the way he acted, but was dealing with « a very stressful situation » at the time

Ball is under investigation by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) in connection with the incident

Sneddon had raised concerns that other unity integrity issues – such as Nathan Cleary’s lies about TikTok during the COVID-19 shutdown – had been resolved so quickly, but the one involving his client was taking so long

Despite a year that has passed and no action has been taken, Sneddon was informed on October 9 that the matter would « progress », citing the AHPRA investigation as the reason for the delay

This followed claims in The Australian that Sam Burgess had been given a liquid tranquilizer from South Sydney club doctor Andrew McDonald, who had provided a prescription on behalf of Burgess’ stepfather.

The date led to the breakdown of the marriage between the Cowboys employee and her husband

« [Name deleted], I know you wouldn’t like me to text you, but I don’t feel anybody but you could understand how I feel I only found out today [his wife ] can keep his job with the Cowboys, ”he wrote

« I feel so drained that nothing she and [the player] did after cheating on both of us over that Gold Coast weekend is right. I lost everything – my wife , my family I feel so useless after what they did but knowing that they will always see each other at the club is so hurtful for me

« I just can’t believe Parrie [Peter Parr] is covering the tracks of [the truck driver’s wife] and will always let her travel with the team. don’t care what we might feel about this

« I guess I should just realize that I am nobody and that I am not important to anyone, especially to [his wife], the Cowboys and obviously [the player] who thought my wife was his property too. I will never bother you again I promise not to call or text again I’m sorry «
