Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu blamed the killings of young protesters #EndSARS at Lekki tollgate on what he called « forces beyond our control »
Soldiers deployed to the toll booth following the imposition of a 24-hour curfew in the state shot on Tuesday evening peaceful young protesters who had demonstrated against police beutality at Lekki Tollgate, killing an unconfirmed number of them and injuring several more
In a series of tweets on Wednesday morning, Sanwo-Olu described the tragic incident as « dark notes from our history » and said he would do an official development broadcast
« It is the most difficult night of our lives as forces beyond our control have moved to take dark notes in our history, but we will face it and come out stronger
« I have just finished my hospital visits with the victims of this unfortunate shooting in Lekki. It took so long to make a statement because I have to prioritize the welfare of the victims of this sad incident

“There are currently 10 patients at Gen Hospital, 11 in Reddington and 4 in Vedic; with mild to moderate injury levels as 2 receive intensive medical care 3 patients have been discharged from & we will continue to monitor and ensure all patients receive the best care
“As governor of our state, I recognize that the responsibility lies at my table and I will work with the FG to get to the root of this unfortunate incident and stabilize all security operations to protect the lives of our residents
