World News – UA – Victory announces signing of former West Brom winger

A-League club Melbourne Victory today announced the signing of FA Cup-winning winger Callum McManaman on a two-year deal

McManaman comes to victory on the English league side Luton Town and has over 10 years of experience playing in the Premier League and the English league

He suffered spells playing at Wigan Athletic (where he spent seven seasons), West Bromwich Albion, Sunderland and most recently Luton

« Melbourne Victory is such a great club in Australia with a proud history, and after speaking with Grant (Brebner) I knew this was a great opportunity for my career, » McManaman said in a statement released by the Victory

« I can’t wait to get to Melbourne, I can’t wait to meet my new teammates and work hard in the preseason

« Like I said, they are a proud club with a huge fan base and we all want to help put Victory back on the table It’s going to take a lot of hard work, but I can’t wait to get started under Grant « 

Melbourne Victory head coach Grant Brebner was delighted to see a player of McManaman’s caliber join his squad ahead of the 2020/21 A-League season

« We are extremely happy to announce that Callum will join Melbourne Victory for the 2020/21 season, » Brebner said in the statement

« Callum is a very experienced player who has played on the biggest stage of the world’s toughest competition, the English Premier League

« He’s a wonderful addition to our playgroup Callum works hard both ways, is a proven goalscorer and at only 29 years old he has a lot of good football ahead of him

« There is no doubt that Callum is a very talented player, but he also brings leadership and a thirst for success. He will play an important role in driving the standards of our playing squad on and off the field. »

McManaman has obtained his visa and travel exemption and is expected to arrive in Melbourne in the coming weeks

McManaman’s announcement comes from behind the club announcing the signing of up and coming young Jake Brimmer from Perth Glory a few days ago

Brebner recently promised two international signings in a recent video to club fans, with McManaman being the first

The next player to sign should be a midfielder also from Europe
