18. December 2020 – Bodega’s original space, tucked away on Clearway Street in Boston, has served as a de facto creative hub since its inception in 2006.
« Our store has been in Boston for almost 15 years and it feels more like a barbershop when you step into it. Lots of people just come to talk, ”says bodega designer Drew White. “We often refer to it as a clubhouse that way. ”
The store, which sits behind a secret door in its eponymous facade, was born out of a group of creative individuals and has since grown larger (and west to Los Angeles) as its ranks have expanded. With its first collaboration with Nike Dunk, Bodega celebrates the collective spirit of a crew and the local legends that hold them together.
Nostalgic nods to baseball underline the design language of the Nike x Bodega Dunk High and create an emotional connection between sporty fandom and the identification of heroes. Think of it as a cheeky homage to the dunk team’s origins, while also symbolizing the shoe’s role in contemporary street culture.
“The dunk unites different subcultures. It goes beyond the aesthetic, ”says Matt Zaremba, Bodega’s Marketing Director. “And with the advent of commercial streetwear, dunk took root in tradition. ”
Tradition guides Bodega’s philosophy and understanding of the role of its space beyond commerce in nurturing talent across the local scene. It is recognized that creative talents often only blossom in people, while advancement requires entry into a scene and the resources a crew provides.
Bodega is honoring creative director Marvin Jason Bynoe with his dunk project. Bynoe, known as Stro to the bodega crew, died on Jan.. March 2020.
« He was the role model that we all strive for at Bodega, and in our eyes he has a certified legendary status, » says White. “This dunk is meant for people on a crew who influence or influence everyone. ”
The Nike x Bodega Dunk High SP legend kicks off on May 28. December in Bodega. A publication on SNKRS will follow on 30. December.
04. December 2020 – The Nike x Naomi Osaka x CDG Blazer celebrates the irrefutable power of the tennis star’s cultural footprint.
Osaka’s success on the pitch is a three-time Grand Slam champion. She also acts outside the court as an advocate for change in the movement for social and racial justice and as a role model for promoting and empowering the next generation of women athletes. For this reason Osaka was named one of the « People of the Year » by Comme des Garçons and SWITCH Publishing.
The Nike x Naomi Osaka x CDG Blazer is an extension of the award. The partnership also boosts Osaka’s fashion sense and suggests a shared Japanese heritage.
Choosing the Nike Blazer conveys decades of sports history and cultural authenticity. Debuted as a basketball shoe in 1972, the shoe has been part of the Nike SB core line for more than a decade and has a number of collaborations in the art world and fashion. (CDG has used the silhouette several times. )
The Nike x Naomi Osaka x CDG Blazer features a neutral color scheme with an all-over custom print graphic showing both NAOMI OSAKA and COMME des GARÇONS. Further details are Osaka’s signature on the quarter plate of the shoe and the handwritten sentence « Home is where the heart is ». ”
The shoe will be released worldwide on 5. December in all CDG and DSM shops as well as in DSM e-shops. A matching T-shirt accompanies the publication.
3. December 2020 – The Nike Air Zoom SuperRep 2 is designed for high-intensity interval training (HIIT) in group classes or solo sessions. This second version has two updated features for a better fit: a fully adjustable burrito-style tongue and a more spacious forefoot.
The SuperRep 2 develops an important facet of modern fitness – training as a sport – and the idea that it deserves shoes that meet the performance requirements specific to those movements. For this reason, the shoe keeps the technology away from the original SuperRep, such as the forefoot zoom air units for pop-on jumps, a reinforced edge to support against lateral boundaries and a flexible « burpee break » for the most popular full-body Punisher of all.
The Nike Air Zoom SuperRep 2 will be released on 10. December in China, on 26. December across EMEA and on December 4th. Published worldwide January.
28. November 2020 – Dubai’s FRAME opened in 2017 and reflects the diverse interests of founder Peter Ahn. Skate culture mixes with street art and high fashion, and people from the United Arab Emirates are invited to celebrate a blend of progressive energies in a single “setting”. ”
True to the diverse interests of the shop, the Nike SB x FRAME Dunk respects the developing youth culture of the region by taking into account the most important design elements such as the swoosh and tongue. In addition, the shoe carries locally inspired motifs, colors and more.
The Nike SB x FRAME Dunk starts on 2. December at FRAME, with an additional global release on December 5. December at SNKRS.
19. November 2020 – After last year’s futuristic confrontation with Chuck 70 and Pro Leather, AMBUSH® co-founder Yoon Ahn stepped into the deep archives of Converse and landed on an unexpected path to her second collaboration with the Boston-based brand.
« I always think of Chuck Taylor in my head, » says Ahn. “But what was really interesting in the archive was finding all the different shoes that Converse has made over the years. ”
Your visit revealed a range of women’s shoes from the 1950s, military shoes from the mid-century and, most excitingly, an almost 110-year-old knee-high wading boot. « When I suddenly saw the freshwater fishing boots, I thought it was really fresh, » says Ahn. “I didn’t know Converse made it, and I wanted to bring that side of the brand back out. ”
The latest AMBUSH® articulation underscores Converse’s outdoor heritage with a vibrant refresh of a classic duck boot with flooded colors (including neutral black and an energetic blithe blue) and sculptural lines. In its full form, Converse x AMBUSH® CTAS Duck Boot gives functionality a genderless urbanity.
The combination of outdoor inspiration and bright colors also characterizes the Converse x AMBUSH® Chuck 70 – but in a more fantastic way. Ahn adds a playful signature to the classic silhouette, a fuzzy longwool upper. « Why not do something that almost mimics a wild creature? » she asks. “I thought it could be such a fun pairing. ”
The Converse x AMBUSH® CTAS Duck Boot and Chuck 70 Fuzzy will be launched on 21. Published November in Greater China. A global release will follow on March 24th. November.
19. November 2020 – Colombian J Balvin breaks barriers through music and self-expression and delivers a special iteration of the Air Jordan I, which comes straight from Medellín and is destined for the whole world. In terms of design, he brings intense “colores” and “vibras” (Spanish for “colors” and “vibes” – and the names of Balvin’s celebrated albums in 2020 and 2018) to his Air Jordan I x J Balvin.
« I was thinking about how I could have an annoying Air Jordan I, » says Balvin, the first Latino artist to work with Jordan Brand. “I wanted to be the person who really dared to change shapes and do anything. Nobody touched the Air Jordan that I like so much. ”
The Air Jordan I x J Balvin’s bold rainbow canvas upper has jagged edges and rounded wings that are meant to create a cloud-like explosion – symbolizing Balvin’s energy source. The artist’s smiley logo replaces the Jumpman logo on the left tongue tag, while pink, white and black laces and interchangeable patches (think a smiley face, jumpman, basketball and lightning bolt) allow wearers to adapt the shoe based on their mood and their creative expression.

17. November 2020 – If the goal of Converse’s 2018 collaboration with creative group Brain Dead was to propose some sort of archive mayhem, the point of the second collaboration is to enlarge the signature details – the stick tape on the Chuck 70, a deep one cut collar and graphics for the Bosey MC – to meet expectations and discover more interpretations of Converse’s legacy.
The Chuck 70 distorts the outsole construction and height with EVA foam and adds irregular lines to the rubber edge. The upper is reminiscent of the first collaboration and features a selection of cow prints on three-piece canvas as well as the co-branding of Converse and Brain Dead.
The Bosey MC, a modern version of the Lakestream wading boot by Converse from the 1940s, plays with a lower collar height and expresses the useful background of the shoe through graphics. Brain Dead’s visual identity is complemented by tactile layers and details like a reinforced foam collar lining, heel pulls with a cord loop and cord.
Converse x Brain Dead Chuck 70 and Bosey MC are available from wearebraindead. com, entertain. com, DSMLA, DSMNY, Brain Dead Milano and other selected retailers worldwide on 19. November. An all black version of the Chuck 70 will be available exclusively from Dover Street Market.
16. November 2020 – Jordan Brand opens the new year with its spring 2021 retro shoe collection. The range includes three new women’s exclusive products (including the first women’s iteration of the Air Jordan IX) and new iterations of the Air Jordan I, IV and V.. .
Women Air Jordan IX
This exclusive model marks the first time Jordan Brand has introduced the Air Jordan IX to its women’s line. Originally released during MJ’s first retirement from basketball, the Air Jordan IX tells an international story that uses the outsoles of the shoes as a canvas. Through different global graphics and words in different languages, the shoe illustrates the impact and influence of MJ around the world. That feeling lives on today, which is evident in this woman’s exclusive model, which has the phrase « Change the World » on the heel loop. The shoe also uses unique color schemes for both shoes, using vegetable tanned materials and natural plant-based dyes.
Women Air Jordan I HI OG
This women’s release features a variant of the Air Jordan I Gold Toe and swaps the patent gold of this model for “Crinkle” silver – inspired by space innovations and the future of flight. The shoe’s color blocking offsets real black leather covers on the toes, tongue and collar, a white quarter and midsole, and crinkle silver details on the ankle, heel and toe box. This model is available in extended sizes (women 5 to women 16). 5 / men 3. 5 to 15 men).
Air Jordan I Retro HI OG
Well-known colors applied with a fresh color blocking scheme set this Air Jordan I Retro HI OG apart. The shoe brings real University Blue leather on the ankle, heel, toe and outsole, black on the swoosh and collar and contrasts with a white quarter panel, midsole, tongue and toe box. A black Wings logo with the University Blue logo on the tongue rounds off the clear and classic details of the model.
Air Jordan I Retro HI OG
This new take on the classic Air Jordan I Retro HI OG was inspired by various design elements used in previous Air Jordan I models. Foldable eyelet flaps, exposed foam on the tongue with an inverted tongue pendant, and tri-color color blocking from Volt, University Gold and Sail all simultaneously pay homage to iterations of the past, creating a new take on the model.
Air Jordan III Retro
Relaunched for the first time since 2007, this Air Jordan III Retro returns with true-to-shape colors and improved materials. With hits from Sport Red and Orange Peel on the tongue, eyelets, airbag and heel tab, the upgraded construction features a real leather upper, matte midsole and elephant print covers on the forefoot and heel. This retro comes in a full family offering.
Women Air Jordan IV
The exclusive inspiration of another woman in space exploration shows the strength and beauty of the engineering materials used in spacesuits for this Air Jordan IV. The upper material consists of a metallic mesh in black and starfish orange and is complemented by matt TPU heel tabs and wings. Black mesh on the quarter plate and on the tongue bottom leads to a raw edge construction on the tongue top, which exposes the foam material underneath. Orange hits on the toes and heels of the rubber outsole complete the look.
Air Jordan IV Retro
With the upper made of real suede from University Blue, this new version of the Air Jordan IV combines high quality materials with a classic Jumpman color scheme. The shoe construction features an OG mesh on the quarter plate and tongue bottom with noticeable splashes of cement on the midsole, heel tabs and wings, and is completed by a woven jock tag on the tongue. This model comes in new packaging and is available in men’s and elementary school sizes.
Air Jordan V Retro
This model is an evolution of the Air Jordan V Stealth, which was originally released in 2006. It gives the familiar coloring a new touch. An all-white upper made of real leather with the reflective tongue in OG silver is emphasized by black on the midsole with a blue splatter finish and blue on the lace toggle and the insole. The shoe, which comes with new packaging, is available in family sizes.
Air Jordan V Retro
In this reconstructed and reconfigured iteration, the iconic structural elements of the Air Jordan V are celebrated in new places. The OG reflective material is usually on the top tongue, now on the quarter plate and bottom tongue. Available in men’s and elementary school sizes, this edition mixes suede, textiles, and translucency in a new way while retaining OG details like the ’23’ trademark on the heel and the splatter finish on the midsole.
Air Jordan IX Retro
This rendering combines more subtle approaches to black and charcoal on real nubuck leather with a touch of University Gold throughout the sockliner and branding on the midsole, tongue and heel. The model maintains an upper floor construction and is available in a full family offering.
Air Jordan XIII Retro
This version of the Air Jordan XIII incorporates the classic starfish orange – a color deeply rooted in the Jordan brand’s recent history. On the well-known outsole with panther paws there is an upper material made of real quilted leather from OG. Complete with the holographic cat’s eye and a carbon fiber shaft plate, this retro is delivered with OG packaging and comes in family sizes.
12. November 2020 – Every year, half of the biennial Nike N7 collection runs alongside Native American Heritage Month, which sheds light on the stories of indigenous communities in shaping modern North America. Kyrie Irving’s own story, one of the aboriginal rediscoveries, inspires the color pattern of this year’s winter collection with a design that comes from the star ceiling and medallion he received while naming the Sioux Tribe in 2018.
The footwear features beautiful, colorful radial patterns on the Air Max 1, SB Blazer Low GT and Irving’s Kyrie 6 (available now) that include haptic graphics that refer to the gifts he received during his ceremony. The patterns also appear on new Nike N7 garments – hoodies, long and short sleeve t-shirts and leggings. At the core of the collection is a belief in heritage recovery, which leads athletes like Irving to bold personal exploration to uncover their story. In Irving’s case, the journey drives him to work for a better future for Standing Rock and indigenous communities through activism and collaboration with N7.
« I’m very proud to be a Lakota Sioux, and at the same time I’m still discovering more deeply who I am and where I come from, » says the Brooklyn Nets point guard. « I have always accepted everything that goes with my background, but I haven’t necessarily understood it until now. The immense pride I feel comes from this journey I’ve been on, this rediscovery I’ve made in my adult life. ”
The Nike N7 winter collection will be released on March 13th. November on Nike. com and at selected Hibbett dealers. Select Nike doors and retailers will also have the Kyrie 6 N7 back in stock.
