After installing the new iOS 14 update, many iPhone users were appalled by a sudden drop in battery life
The Mirror reports that many Apple owners have taken to Twitter to express their displeasure after seeing their smartphone battery drain much faster than usual
Since the launch of iOS 14 earlier this month, several frustrated users have taken to Twitter to discuss the issue
One user wrote: « If you haven’t updated to iOS 14; DON’T The battery drain is amazing 90% to 3% in an hour »
Another added: « My battery was ALWAYS lasting me on the pro max, but since ios 14 my battery life is bad »
And one of them wrote: « IOS 14 CAN YOU STOP TESTING MY BATTERY LIFE I JUST WANT MY PHONE ALWAYS DOING IT ON THANKS DAY »
Adrian Kingsley-Hughes, researcher at ZDNet, explained, “Installing a new operating system on an iPhone triggers a lot of things in the background, from indexing to battery recalibration, and it can last even hours or days
« Not only does this consume power, but recalibrating the battery can make the battery appear to be draining faster when in fact it is not
« Add to that the double factor of a large number of app updates as a result of a new release, combined with a lot of new features available that can further deplete an older phone »
If you’re worried about your iPhone’s battery and it’s been a few days since you upgraded to iOS 14, M Kingsley-Hughes advises you to check the condition of your battery
He explained, « If you go to Settings> Battery> Battery Status and the message is it’s good for maximum performance capacity, then it’s either just normal things happening, either a bug «
